The Shivering Strings weekend workshop is the brainchild of Gordon Stobbe. The
shivering refers to our cold northern winters and the strings, well you can figure that one out.
We have five fiddle instructors and one guitar instructor. Each fiddle instructor will provide one tune at each
level; Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. All participants will self-identify and select their
appropriate playing level.
Once you are registered, you will receive a link to all the music and mp3s. It is
important that campers become familiar with the tunes. Time in the class will be
spent perfecting the tunes, working on bowings, and developing the musicality of the tunes.
New this year, we will be hosting an Instructors Concert on Friday evening and jamming sessions each day.
Our acoustic accompaniment class will feature Jarred Albright teaching guitar.
The guitar class will focus on chord progressions, playing backup
and ways to contribute to the music when you are not playing the melody.
In order to sign up for the guitar accompaniment class, you must be able to play simple
major and minor chords on your instrument and be comfortable with chord changes.
